WHAT IS PENNANT?
- Pennant is a league format of bowls played at clubs across Victoria administered by Bowls Victoria.
- Pennant practice days are Tuesday and Thursday. Greens are available at other times when not in use for competitions or other club activities.
- Coaching is available for individuals or small groups.
- Team fixtures, results and ladders can be accessed through either:
SATURDAY PENNANT
- Over 80 members playing in 6 pennant teams represent the club during the Metropolitan Pennant competition season each Saturday
- Essendon Bowls Club fields teams in Premier Reserve & Divisions 2, 4, 5 and the 6- a-side Saturday morning competitions.
MID-WEEK PENNANT
- Mid-week pennant is played on Tuesday and Thursday
- Essendon Bowls Club is represented by teams competing in Divisions 1, 3 and 6 of the Tuesday mid-week competition.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT PENNANT
- Essendon fields 2 teams in the Northern Gateway Region night pennant competition played on Wednesday evenings.
FRIDAY RSL COMPETITION
- In association with the Essendon RSL sub-branch, Essendon Bowls Club fields two teams in the local RSL bowls competition each Friday morning.
JUNIOR BOWLS
Essendon Bowls Club has bowls activities that cater specifically for junior bowlers between the ages of approx. 10 and 18 years of age. These include:
Lawn bowls clinics for schools either at the school or at Essendon Bowls Club
Supporting schools entering school bowls competitions with coaching and equipment.

Participation in regional and state wide junior bowls tournaments.
COACHING
Whether a new, novice or experienced bowler, people should always be looking to improve their skills and understanding of the sport of bowls. The club offers free coaching to all which can be undertaken in either an individual or group setting. Essendon Bowls Club has a panel of qualified and experienced coaches willing and able to mentor bowlers at all levels of ability and experience working under the guidance of the club’s Coaching Coordinator. REPRESENTATING ESSENDON BOWLS CLUB
Representing Essendon Bowls Club is an opportunity to play bowls with some of the most experienced bowlers in metropolitan and regional Victoria, some of whom have representative experience at national, state and regional levels . We invite new members to experience an excellent ‘team spirit’ where each member of the team is committed to becoming a better bowler.
