Essendon Bowls Club has signed Victorian U/18 state squad representative Koby Cromie.

The 16-year-old joins the Bombers for the upcoming 2023-2024 Bowls Victoria Metropolitan Pennant season.

In what is a massive signing for Bombers, Cromie said he has set the goal to “help win the inaugural Premier Reserve flag”.

Essendon were finalists last year in Weekend Pennant Division 1 and are now a member of the newly created Premier Reserve competition, with ambitions to return to Premier Division.

Bowls Director and Head Coach Ant Flapper said the addition of Cromie is a massive inclusion to the playing group.

“We are pumped to get the services or such an up and coming star, and look forward to working with him to help develop his game,” said Flapper. “Cromie is a highly talented player. I have known and watched him grow through the junior ranks for many years, and well and truly can match it at open age. The sky is the limit for him and we are thrilled that we will play a role in that journey.”

Over 20 years ago Cromie’s father, Tim commenced his bowls career at Essendon, and now follows in his footsteps.

The Bombers welcome Cromie into the organisation and are looking forward to his continued development, and his contribution to the club.
